Cultivating Creativity: A Weekend Retreat

Join Nicki Lang and Sarah Murphy-Kangas at St. Andrews house in the Hood Canal for a weekend of tapping into your creative self and creating inspired art.  Stroll the beach, eat amazing food, meet new people, create in community, rest and relax!

Room and board are included in the registration cost. We’ll begin with dinner on the evening of Friday March 8th (arrive as early as 4pm, dinner at 6pm), and depart Sunday after lunch. A detailed schedule will follow. Accommodations are bunk-style in the lodge with some private rooms available (see Saint Andrews website for details: https://www.saintandrewshouse.org/).

We will spend time creating together and talking about the creative process. Activities will include block printing, collage, writing, and some other surprises! No experience necessary, all supplies will be provided.

Meet your Guides:

Sarah Murphy-Kangas is a life-a-holic, mother, facilitator, leadership coach, and writer who’s learning to call herself an artist. She’s been writing poetry since 2nd grade, is an all-season outdoor swimmer, and loves to cook, read, and be a good friend. She lives in Bellingham with her husband, daughter, and chocolate lab and is thrilled to be collaborating with Nicki in creating an energizing, connected space for retreatants.

Find out more about Sarah and her work at: https://sarahmurphykangas.com/

Nicki Lang is a creative dabbler.  After making leather goods for ten years, she picked up a palette knife and started painting Pacific Northwest landscapes.  After a few years of playing with oils, she started a new technique with acrylics and squeegees, creating a new body of work called “Color Poems”.  When she is not painting, Nicki can be found writing, playing the banjo, or spending time outside with her husband, two boys and goofy dog, Lupinella.  Nicki lives in a co-housing community in Bellingham, Washington.

Refund Policy: We can offer a full refund if cancelling 30 days or more before the retreat date. If you cancel 2 weeks before, we can offer a 50% refund, and after that, you are able to transfer your spot, but no refund is available. We will keep a waiting list once the retreat fills and can try to fill your spot if you are unable to attend.
